Meet Dr. Wandzura
Dr. Wandzura is a Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada certified ophthalmologist, specializing in the diagnosis & treatment of ocular disease. Dr. Wandzura has undergone extensive training in the medical & surgical management of disorders of the eye. Dr. Wandzura specializes in the treatment of cataract, glaucoma and macular degeneration. Dr. Wandzura also has a keen interest in oculoplastic and refractive surgery.
Dr. Wandzura was born in Saskatoon where he also completed high school. He continued his education at the University of Saskatchewan, earning early admission to the University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine after the minimum 2 years of undergraduate study. He graduated from the College of Medicine in 1995, earning his medical degree with distinction. Dr. Wandzura then completed a 5 year ophthalmology residency training program at the Eye Center in Saskatoon City Hospital where he served as Chief Resident in 1999 and 2000.
Dr. Wandzura began his ophthalmology practice in 2000 in Thunder Bay, Ontario, where he helped train & advance the cataract surgery technique to state of the art “no-needle, no-stitch” surgery using foldable intraocular lenses. In 2002, Dr. Wandzura returned to Saskatchewan where his family roots extend back to the 1890’s. He is particularly proud of the fact that his great-grandfathers homestead in the Dana, Saskatchewan area remains in the family name.
In 2002 Dr. Wandzura began his private ophthalmology practice in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Dr. Wandzura’s practice grew quickly and he earned a reputation for surgical excellence and outstanding patient care. In 2010, Dr. Wandzura opened a new, state-of-the-art ophthalmology center, the “Lakeland Vision Institute” where his practice continues to grow and thrive, providing the very latest in technology and advanced therapeutics to the Prince Albert area and entire north central area of Saskatchewan.
Dr. Wandzura is married and has 3 children. He enjoys golf, down-hill skiing, and fishing. He is a member of the Canadian Ophthalmology Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Canadian and Saskatchewan Medical Associations and is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, which is indicative of the highest specialist certification in Canada (F.R.C.S.C.).
